Nebraska Asset Protection Summary 

Homestead Protection

The Homestead exemption is $12,500; this real property exemption is limited to two lots within a city or town and 160 acres elsewhere.  To see this statute, click here.

Life Insurance and Annuities

Proceeds, cash values, and benefits accruing under an annuity policy or policy of life insurance are exempt.  This exemption is limited to an aggregate value of $100,000 for all matured and unmatured life insurance policies.  To see this statute, click here.

Charging Orders

Under the Nebraska Uniform Limited Partnership Act, a judgment creditor may charge a debtor-partner’s partnership interest with payment of any unsatisfied debt with interest.  To the extent charged, the judgment creditor will receive only the rights of an assignee of the debtor-partner’s partnership interest.  To see this section of the statute, click here.
